Last day at this castle!  If you are visiting England, don't just stop in London.  There is plenty to see outside our great capital city.  Coventry has a marvellous Cathedral and more, Stratford.....well you know about Shakespeare and Warwick Castle is a must.  In 30 minutes you can drive to all three.  They are that close to each other.   If you don't have time to go into the Warwick Castle, at least wander down Mill Street and catch sights like the ones I have shared over the last few days.  But, there is so much more if you go inside!!!!!

Have a good weekend.  I'll be back on Tuesday.

He must have used the same architect as the Tower in London. This could pass for the Royal Observatory. Beautiful.

I'm just catching up today with your fantastic photos. It's wonderful to see Warwick again!

When I stayed at Oxford (years ago, I still miss it!) I took day trips when I could on weekends, and found it so easy to get to wonderful places: Blenheim Palace, Warwick Castle, London, Stratford-Upon-Avon...endlessly delightful.

Is the Warwick Castle dungeon still open to visitors?

Yes, Paul, William built the Tower in 1078. Busy chap :)

I have to thank you, Petrea, for bringing me back to Warwick. It has been in the back of my mind for some time but you got me there to get a shot for your Camelot & Vine competition. What a fabulous time I had and never went inside. Hope to go inside closer to Halloween. Yes, the dungeon is still open plus a lot more. They have made good use of the grounds...fabulous day out! I have never been to Blenheim Palace...you have given me an idea..ha ha!

Blenheim Palace was the first place I went on a weekend jaunt from Oxford. It fascinated me for many reasons, partly because it's still occupied by the Duke of Marlborough, or it was at the time. Plus there's all that history! And the grounds! I had only been in England about 36 hours and wasn't prepared for such grandeur. I cried when I saw the library. Magnificent.

William may be one of England's oldest enemies, but he left some beautiful architecture behind - thank you for this beautiful castle series! There's so much beauty and history in Warwickshire, I'm hoping I've enough vacation days to visit one day soon. Enjoy your break!

(These comments brought to mind a hilarious anecdote about the tenth Duke of Marlborough visiting someone's home and frustrated that his toothbrush wasn't foaming. Turns out his valet always put toothpaste on the brush for him and the Duke did not realize toothbrushes didn't foam on their own:)

Wonderful story, Lulu. It will be repeated.

Tanya, I think you could get free admission with hubby's heritage. Bring your family tree documents :).
