St Bartholomew's Church (and Benchmark)

 Binley, Coventry

Easter Sunday Afternoon

Follow this path to enter the church on your left.
Just to the right of the entrance (behind a camelia bush) level with the step
you will find a chiselled horizontal mark known as a survey benchmark and bolt.
This is an elevation reference point.  I love finding them.

Merry Christmas 2015

St Bartholomew Church
Brinklow Road

It's Christmas Eve here in Coventry
and the photo shown here was taken in 2013
when we had a lot of snow.

Dedicated in 1773, on a site that dates back to
the middle ages, St. Bartholomew Church was built at the expense of

'Where's That Apple?'...

....I can only guess that is what he is thinking.

This isn't today.  I took this a couple of week's ago when we had that heavy snow, and we could only go out for walks. The photo didn't quite come out as I hoped.  But when I was looking at it over the weekend....I decided to use it because I rather like that horse.  I have taken his picture before.  He came right up to me because my camera is red (I think).  The horses in this field are very well looked after, but I still feel that I owe him an apple...bet he thinks the same :).

Happy, happy Monday!  It was  a beautiful day yesterday and we actually got in a game of golf (and it was a good game of golf!).

It's In The Detail

Craven Coat of Arms, St Bartholomew Church
Motto translation:  Virtue Consists in Action
This unique Wedgwood style ceiling has recently been refurbished along with the rest of the interior of the church. The church was built by Lord Craven in 1773.  And, it is the Parish Church for the area where I live.

My thoughts and prayers go out to those who are in the path of Hurricane Sandy.  It is the top item on the news here in the UK today.

I Owe You An Apple

The moment I started taking pictures, this horse started moving towards me.

Saying 'stand still' just didn't work.

My Panasonic camera is a delicious 'apple' red.  So, in fairness, I think I owe this horse an apple next time I walk by.

The photos were taken on the Binley Road, Coventry, near St. Bartholomew's Church (last Wednesday).
