I am not sure why it was decided to put this
modern Christmas tree directly in front of  Lady Godiva.
What do you think?

S Is For Self-Sacrifice

Have a look at the plinth supporting
the bronze sculpture of Lady Godiva by
William Reid Dick - 'Self-Sacrifice'

That will do nicely for today's ABC Wednesday.

Photos were taken after a morning of rain, hail and wind.
Loving that blue sky :).

Lady Godiva, St Mary's Guildhall, Coventry

W C Marshall's mid 19th century statue of Lady Godiva

On the west side of the Great Hall  is this oriel window thought to date between 1394 and 1414.  It was rebuilt in 1826 and later restored in 1893.  Such a beautiful setting for Mr Marshall's work.

Coventry Goes International

Broadgate, Coventry

Another 'thumbs up' for Coventry.  The Global Market Village is set up and ready for one and all to enjoy food and unusual products from almost every corner of the globe (so they say).  Lady Godiva will have an abundance of company for the next 12 days.

(Apologies for using yet another photograph of Godiva.  Lots is happening around her these days, so I feel compelled to share all.)

I'll show you a bit more tomorrow....hopefully, with some sunshine too.

Lady Godiva Oversees Getting Ready for Olympic - UPDATE

Coventry is getting ready for the 2012 Olympics.  There are real signs of progress.  Lady Godiva (centre) has not been short of activity around her over the last few months.  Below is how things were looking in early October, 2011.

This is Broadgate within easy walking distance to the Cathedral, Coventry Transport Museum, Herbert Art Gallery and Museum and many, many more venues worth visiting in Coventry City Centre. Coventry of Coventry Stadium is to host 12 football matches and is located outside the City Centre.

Lady Godiva Oversees Coventry Getting Ready for Olympics 2012

Legend has it that Lady Godiva (1040 to 1070) rode through the streets of Coventry
in order to gain a remission of the oppressive taxation imposed by her husband on his tenants.

Photo is of Lady Godiva statute which is located in Broadgate, Coventry.
Coventry is to host Olympic football events during the 2012 games in England.

Please note:  I am having the weekend off.  More on Monday, 10th.
