On a recent trip to California I saw this house

and thought of 'Monday Mural'.  Made me smile.

Someone spent a lot of time

covering the entire exterior with mosaic tiles.

...and it was lovely and warm outside too.

Huntington Beach

Tile mural at Pier Plaza (close to the pier)
designed by the late Terry Schoonhoven.

You can't miss this enormous tiled mural. Here is a small section of it above.
What makes me laugh is that when I saw this mural on a recent holiday, I thought -
I can use this in Monday Mural.
So here it is :).

The theme of the mural is the history of Huntington Beach.

Below is the Pier and the Pacific Ocean with Catalina Island beyond.

Valley of Fire, Nevada

It's my husband's birthday today.

So why not share some photographs from

a recent trip to Nevada and one of his favorite places to visit -

Valley of Fire State Park.

Located about 45 minutes from Las Vegas.

cake made by our granddaughter, Lottie.  A winner!

The birthday card is from my sister and her husband received a few years ago.
We bring it out every year.  Press a button and
it sounds just like 'Vegas' :).

Postcard from Arizona - Cotton Fields

Taken in September off the road between

Needles, California, and Bullhead City, Arizona.

Amazing to see those cotton balls as a living plant.

I don't think we have anything like this in England. If we do,

please tell me where.

Tomorrow is Thatched Roof Thursday. I looked everywhere

on our trip in the States with little success. Wonder what I can post tomorrow :).

Z Is For Zenyatta

I must confess that I have been waiting since

last August to use these photos.

The name Zenyatta

caught my attention when we were visiting Santa Anita Park in California

last summer.  

Santa Anita Park is located not far from my home town

of Pasadena.  No racing that day.  Found a 'Z' instead :).
