'Quick! Get Your Camera'

Coombe Country Park
Egyptian Geese

About 3 years ago there was a lone Egyptian goose
at Coombe, then there were two last year
and now there are seven.

We got a little excited.  I managed to get a few shots
of a very unusual sight last Sunday.

I cannot believe it is Wednesday already.
Hope all is going well with you all.

At Last

Coombe Country Park
Grey Heron

I've tried and tried to capture one of the many
heron's seen at Coombe.  Finally,
got a few images over the last week.

All the photos, except the one below were
taken at the Top Pool.  The flying heron
was taken from the Bird Hide on Sunday.

Hot Pursuit

Coombe Country Park
Great Crested Grebe

I have chased after these waterbirds
on many a visit to Coombe.
They don't do much flying but tend to
dive into the water and it is anybody's
guess where they will next appear.

The top and bottom shots were taken
one after the other.  The grebe
was in a shadow (above) but you can
get an idea of the bird's ornate plumage.

The Chaffinch & Nuthatch

Coombe Country Park
Chaffinch (female)

Here is another shot.  This one is of a
Nuthatch digging deep for bird seeds.

Happy Wednesday.  I am keeping things
simple today. Hope your week is going well :).

In A Rush

Coombe Country Park
Black-billed Magpies

I believe these birds are Magpies.
Last weekend I spotted this mad rush
for food that had just been put on the trunk of
a nearby tree at Coombe.  In seconds the food was gone.
I did not expect to see those blue feathers.

Hello

Coombe Country Park
Mute Swan

It is no secret that I love (having a go at) photographing swans.
You will see plenty of them in this blog using the wildlife link.

The image above is of two swans.
I recall there was some sort of territorial dispute
going on when I took this photograph recently.

Out For A Stroll

Coombe Country Park
Coot

This all-black water bird, with a distinctive white beak
and forehead, was not bothered at all by my
hurried moves to get a shot of it in front of those daffodils.

I must say, it really does have 'intriguing' feet.

Sharing?

Coombe Country Park
On Valentine's Day

Meet Mr & Mrs Mallard
enjoying food left for the birds at the bird hide.
I think they were sharing :).

Hope you all are having a lovely Valentine's Day.

Winter Plumage

Coombe Country Park
Black-headed Gull

My first attempt at photographing
a moving object with a telephoto lens.
Need more practice :).

I believe these are photos of
Black-headed gulls in winter plumage.
If I got it wrong, please say so in 'Comments' below.

Better focus (below) but the gull is facing the wrong way.
All good fun!

Photos were taken Sunday.

Quiet Moment On The Lake

Coombe Country Park

Greetings!
These photos were taken a couple of weeks ago
when it was quite frosty out.

Hope you are all set for a good week ahead!

Close Up

Coombe Country Park
Blue Tit

Taken yesterday from the Park's Bird Hide.

Note from Lauren:
I have been experimenting a little with my
telephoto lens and whilst I know little about birds,
I did like the challenge of holding the camera still
to get a photograph like this :).

What more can I say.
My telephoto lens did not let me down.

Happy Monday to you all.

Topmost

Coombe Country Park
Great Spotted Woodpecker

I think this is a friend of another woodpecker
I photographed back in May, 2015.
This one has red on his head so I'm guessing it is a male.

Taken last Sunday.

I am determined to post at least 5 photographs this week.
So here is one of a Blue Tit bird.

Now to look at your photos :)

Birds

Seagulls at Coombe Country Park

This was taken in January in the fog.
Some severe cropping of the photo below
resulted in the two images above.
Not sure what was going on...maybe it was raining :).

Thanks for the 'get well wishes' from yesterday's post.
We are feeling much better.

H Is For Hidden...

...well, sort of :).

I am not a bird person but Mr LOL got quite excited
when he spotted this Chaffinch.
I tried the zoom and pretty much kept still.

Remember that rabbit I saw last month?
It made an appearance too!

Getting back to the Chaffinch,
here's another look.

All taken at Coombe Country Park yesterday.

Still Waiting...

...for some snow.
This is how things were looking on this day, last year.

Today, it is sunny and just above freezing here in Coventry.
I am thinking snow this time next week :).

Peekaboo

Yesterday at Coombe Country Park.
The reason for the title?
Have a look below :).

Have a good week!
