Thatched Roof Thursday #19 - Brandon
We drive past here at least 3 times a week to go swimming at the Brandon Hall Hotel located at the end of this road. On a very sunny day last week, I took this photo. I thought you might like to see a village main street. Most villages around here seem to have a 'Main Street'.
Earlier today, I drove past the cottage that is being re-thatched. They were covering it with wire netting. I took a photo with some of the roof uncovered. It looks good. Now we just need another sunny day so I can get a nice final photo of it.
It was cold today. So we did go to the cinema and saw 'Django Unchained'. I had to close my eyes quite a bit because it was way over the top with violence, a la Quentin Tarantino. Those parts were not my cup of tea but the rest of it was ok. If you go to see it, it has good acting, amazing scenery, but just be prepared for....well, be prepared.

Brandon's main street looks good on a crisp sunny day LOL. The thatch on this cottage looks like it is extremely well cared for..they do look fab when well tended, a bit like hair really!!
Pretty main street. Been wondering how the thatching is going!
Makes it easy for the mail-man then!
What a neat street, and I like that thatched roof!
PerthDP - Well, I would normally post a reply later but I just couldn't pass on your comment. Thatch/Hair...perfect! You have changed my life :).
Your up-to-date Deb.
Stefan, yes! He uses a bike.
Thanks for stopping by RR.
i love this one! most of our little towns have a main street too..it's usually the historical area...i want to see that movie, i love quentin!
I'd love to be able to stroll down this street...lovely.
I enjoy these kinds of shots. My first thought was, 'Wow -- there isn't much of a setback, is there?' But, this is a quaint Main Street. I wouldn't mind trundling down it a few times a week. That thatched roof looks perfect there.
It is a lovely house AND a lovely main street. Django is a movie I plan to miss.
it is one of the funniest most violent movies .. but the worst part was Quentin and his horrific Australian accent ... oy oy oy
Very lovely thatching - these homes really look like a fairy tale scene! Perfect for a sunny day stroll. I watched Django Unchained and your review was spot on, many good things but also difficult stuff to swallow. (I had a brief Central Park encounter with Tarantino long ago, I'd mistook him for a classmate - so embarrassing - but he seemed so...normal. Surreal/jarring given his movies!)
Oh, there is indeed a large open field to the left of the woods photo! It runs up against the Institute for Advance Study:)
ohhh...looks so nice there!!
Tanya - I associate Main Street as you describe. Here it is just the main street :). Re QT - Looks like you know what to expect...so no worries.
SRQ - Observant! Sometimes the houses come right up to the road. It scares the living daylights out of me when you see big trucks just getting past.
Lulu - Wow, what a story.
Daryl - you sum film up perfectly!
