Pike Cottage |
An excerpt from a recent planning application reads: 'A common way to
describe Pike Cottage would be as a chocolate box cottage, with its thatched
roof, stone mullion windows and general architecture. It is a picturesque
typical Cotswold style cottage with its distinctive bobble hedge which runs
the perimeter of Sheep Street .'
Well, I couldn't agree more. Click on the photo to see the great dane dogs by the door and those pheasants on the roof.
When I am stuck for something to post one day, I will show you a bit more of that hedge.
The plan next week is to get update on the 'work in progress' on that cottage being re-thatched in Coventry.

what a sweet place this is. i think cotswold is the place where kate winslet's cottage was in the holiday. love that movie :)
I love that, "chocolate box..."! It's such a pretty charmer. (I've seen those lovely birds atop thatched roofs and didn't realize they were pheasants!) The Cotswolds is a beautiful corner of the planet:)
Absolutely gorgeous! I have never seen a roof like this one before. This shot is a must see.
Tanya - Bad news about Kate Winslet's cottage - it is real (the exterior that is) but it was purpose built. Follow the link - fun to read http://hookedonhouses.net/2010/12/05/kate-winslets-english-cottage-in-the-holiday/
Oh it is so nice to see you out and about on blogworld, Lulu!
JM - The whole town of Chipping Campden is a lot like this. I can hardly believe it every time I visit.
It's so hard to imagine that you get to see this kind of beauty and charm on a regular basis. Such a long, long way from this corner of the world. Thanks so much for sharing with us!

Another good one.
You sure had the gorgeous light on your side when you wanted to take this picture!
I just love the details on the rooftop.
Sorry Tanya :)
Adele - After 30+ years living here, I feel exactly the same. It is wonderful that my PC's turn into windows so I can see your world and so many more on a daily basis.
Off to have a look at all of your blogs now. All of you. Cheers!
