B Is For Bulrush

Yes, the plants are Bulrush but it is the swans that initially caught my eye yesterday.  Coombe Pool was frozen, and I could not believe seeing so many swans sitting on the ice.

Here is the full shot with more Bulrush plants, ice, snow and more snow.

Oh, one more thing.  Just about got these swans flying by.  I want to have a go at capturing this sort of sight again.  They are majestic.  Oldly, their wings make quite a lot of noise. (Cue - get the camera ready quick :)

Apologies that I have deviated slightly on the ABC Wednesday theme.  It isn't 'S' today.  For more from those who have loyally stuck to 'B', please follow the link - ABC Wednesday.

Love the lond necks of the swans - so beautiful. Very similar to the stance of the canada geese we see above us heading to the local ponds.

Thank you, Kate. What a stroke of luck that those plants met the 'B' criteria :).

Denise - Yes, now that I have seen those swans in flight, I agree. We have some Canadian geese at Coombe too.

Tanya - I can't figure it out either. Why risk the chance of getting stuck. The fox I saw the other day was on the ice too.

Thanks, Roger.

And, Lulu - So glad you joined in. It is fun. Your life will change. We are forever put initials to just about everything we see now. Honestly! Even Mr LOL is...ha ha!

They just might be Bewick Swans, that would qualify! Nice Bulrushes too.

I'm not familiar with bulrush. That's a good one for 'B'. The swans and snow are a delightful addition. So pretty.

Beautiful B! I didn't know that swans would just sit on the ice like that. But I guess they can't go inside and sit on the sofa, right?

He he, Adele. They should go over to the hotel :). You and PerthDP do a great job to get in as many 'B's as possible. It is noticed!

Daryl...have a look at the one on the right...it is standing up. I was worried when I first saw them.
