Station Tower

This 1970's building has intrigued me for ages.  It is tall by Coventry standards (15 floors), right next door to Coventry Train Station and loaded with lots of glass (not to mention it is a perfect perch for relay equipment).  It is curious to me that for the longest time, I have been able to see almost directly through most of the floors.  Can it be vacant?

I went by the main door yesterday and noticed only 2 businesses listed on the directory.  Next time Mr LOL has a chiropractor appointment near here, I will try and get up enough nerve to ring a buzzer or two and ask if I can have a look inside?  Watch this space!

It is Friday and what a busy week it has been.  Cheltenham Festival (horse racing) finishes today.  Our afternoons have been spent primarily watching our favourite horses not win :).  Still fun.

Have a good weekend!  For more 'sky' photos follow the link to Skywatch Friday.  I am going to have a go at linking to Ein Stück Himmel at the suggestion of my friend Lulu over at Princeton Daily Photo.  Cheers!

what a contrast that is to the thatched roof 'cottage' of yesterday

What amazing light! I'm so intrigued by the mystery of this building, perhaps there's a story there? Thanks for sweetly mentioning me and hope you enjoyed 'dipping your toes' into ESH waters:) Hope it's a more relaxing weekend!

Looks like a ghost skyscraper. Perhaps one day you will walk past.... and it simply won't be there anymore!

Great photos and a beautiful sky :)
That building sure is intriguing, hope you'll get to have a look around.

Thanks for your visit and comment.
Have a happy weekend.
Hilde :)

Ha! I like the idea of 'the ghost skyscraper'! You would imagine a building like this to be teeming with office workers hey! Sorry to hear about the lack of wins at the horse racing, but it's still so much fun, as long as you have a
sort of budget that won't break the bank if you don't win. Have a super weekend..pick a winner :)

What a great shot. Very artsy!

The building looks similar to many that stand tall in my local city (an hour away). Lots of steel and glass in the new buildings surrounding the historic.

Great photos. I think there are more and more "ghost skyscrapers" around (thank you, Deb) due to the recession. Imagine investing a few million in, say, 2007, and then boom! Nobody can afford to rent space and you're out your money.

It really is an intriguing building. I like the idea of a ghost skyscraper too...you might go in, take the elevator to floor 13, and when the doors open, find yourself in an alternate universe! If that happens, be sure to photos and send them back here so we can see them.

Love the first photo. The silhouette of the building against the sky is very striking.

It does seem strange that you can see through it.

I thought that watching your horse not win was what racing was about!

Goodness me, what fabulous discussion you have entered into. It seems that building has a little mystery to it...love the 'ghost' skyscraper coming into the conversation...Deb:).

Chieftess - This is definitely in Coventry. I completely agree with you.

Petrea - Good point. There has got to be a reason why it is empty. Definitely, a story here. (It's on that list :)).

LongBeach etc :) - Whoa! Going to avoid that 13th floor....!!!!

Steward & PerthDP - I did win £1 overall so that financed the fun I had over 4 days and bets on 20 races. I promise you, Grace, I only bet pence :).

Lulu - No worries. Thanks for recommendation. Nice to see that our friend 'Tiny's PicStory' stopped by. Lovely.

Thanks again, all of you. I could have a chat with each of you happily about this skyscraper or anything else, for that matter! Take care!

That is an awfully tall and old building not to have been finished and not to be occupied. We await your discoveries.

I love seeing inside other peoples places, so look forward to your adventure ringing on doorbells. Might be more productive than your hrse betting.

Beautyful silhouette shot...
You're right, is it possible to see right through it!

Mr. LOL had his chiropractor appointment. I couldn't find anyone at the end of a buzzer. I did learn that the entire area is to be redeveloped. I am fearful that this building will be taken down. Can that be. I'm on the case :).

Thank you all for visiting!
