Thatched Roof Thursday #58 - Leek Wootton

The Forge Cottage
Grade II Listed dating around the 17th Century
located about 8 miles from Coventry.

This sweet thatch is on the main road in the
charming village of Leek Wootton.

The plan - Another long weekend.
To my blogging friends:  I don't know
how you all fit in posting photos as often as you do
and commenting on so many blogs, including mine.
I salute you! Cheers :).

Wonderful images. As far as the time for blogging goes, i think that because I love reading other peoples posts and am passionate about it just comes easy to me.

I always enjoy my visit here because I am so in love with cottages and their thatched roofs. Do you know how long such a roof lasts? just wonderin'

Wonderful, Mersad.

Norma - It varies depending on the pitch and aspect of the roof, workmanship and the type of straw...Norfolk Reed, at least 50 years, Combed Wheat Straw 20-40 years or Long Straw 15-20 years.

Lovely old thatch, but goodness me is that tiles I see on the porch roof!
Always enjoy reading your comments Lauren, some weeks I just cannot find time to "do the rounds" either

and it looks nicely white-washed, too!
I sometimes find it challenging to post and visit and comment every day. But I hate to miss anything.

It looks like you caught this thatched cottage on two different days, one with bright sunshine and another one cloudy.

Frankly, it is a struggle. Because I am retired, I have more time than many bloggers, but still, I have many interests other than photography and blogging, and often visiting other blogs has to take second place.

They're lovely.

I'm actually finding it's easier to comment on photoblogs, and seems to go faster, than it is to comment on writer's blogs.

I do love these peeks at the fairytale cottages round you:) Like Jane and Chris, I'd love a peek inside!

I do take breaks from photos and posting/commenting because I end up traveling a bit, usually for work. But yes, it does take time, though I do enjoy seeing people's posts!

I love those chimneys. Built in the 18th century, heh? I'm sure it's been updated, but it would be fun to see the interior. Do you think you could knock on the door and ask? Just tell them some clown from Florida wants to look at the inside of their house. I'm sure they'll "Come on in!" Or not.

Happy Valentine's Day!

A lovely photo, Lauren...such a sweet wee cottage!

I'm glad you popped onto my page and became a follower. I will happily do the same on yours. I peeked into your other blog and fell in love with it. My husband and I have covered a lot of the same ground as we've followed parts of Route 66 on different trips.

Happy travelling, and we'll talk again soon...:)

Love 'Leek Wootton' :) Such a sweet cottage Lauren, wonder if that is a particularly busy main road, that would be a shame.
Yes Valentine's Day is over for moi, but I hope yourself and Mr. LOL are still enjoying yours.

I can tell this wasn't a recent photo (the first certainly) - I find it amazing when people who comment on daily blogs seem to assume the photos were all taken only yesterday.

I know what you mean LOL!!! Daily posting is tough to keep up with!!!

I would love to see inside some of these thatched cottages. Fascinating to see how they've been able to be updated, as the centuries go by!!! We stayed at a friend's home in Wantage...her home had parts that dated back to the 1400's, and a beautiful new wing with a gorgeous, up to date, kitchen!!!
