Thatched Roof Thursday #41 - Kenilworth

Unusual shaped thatched roof.
This building is Grade II listed and
not far from Kenilworth Castle.
The photo (below) shows
more detail of the roof design.
There is another thatched roof next door.
Hooray!

I had a wonderful day playing golf with new
friends and old.  Weather behaved and so
did my wisdom tooth :).

Hope your week is going smoothly!

That is a very smart looking thatch, a cut above I would say......

I knew you were a good person and now I know why - you play golf! I played yesterday but we got rained out on the 15th hole - I mean drenched! Glad you had a good day and that nasty tooth calmed down.

Thatched roofs are so curious to me. Why thatched roofs. I've heard they're cooler in summer and warmer in winter but with heating and air conditioning, that's no big deal. I'm wondering if they blow around or off in a storm?

The thatch in the second photo is really interesting. I wonder how much is functional and how much is artistry.

I played golf yesterday with a buddy with whom I have been playing golf for 20 years or so. It was a different course. We both played lousy but it was fun any way.

Yes I was wondering about the one wellie too :) I wonder if they cut the thatch to suit the window shape, reminds me of a 'bowl cut' hairstyle. Enjoy your weekend Lauren, so pleased to hear the tooth has settled a bit, let's hope it behaves itself over the weekend :)

First the 'one' wellie. I had to look at some other shots I took and there are actually two there. If you zoom in you might see the second one behind the first. I think they are ceramic but next time I go by I will have a closer look :).

Second, golf. Yes, I play but not as often as I would like at the moment. Love playing golf and watching it on TV too. Mr LOL has been given the go ahead (back problems)to start playing again but not just yet. Thanks, Lowell. You are too kind! I thought Lowell and Jack might be golfers :).

Third, the Roof design - I am sure there is a lot of functionality, artistry and protection (from it blowing away) in the design. It is a craft. This one is particularly thick which such a deep over hang. Air conditioning - not usual here but heating, yes. I love Grace's reference to 'hairstyle'. Perfect! They do vary.

Thanks for your good 'tooth' wishes and here's hoping we all have a nice peaceful weekend. Dentist on Wednesday to have it out.

Thank you all for you charming comments. Love reading them.
