Just A Tad Over An Hour...

...from Coventry to Lincoln by car.

Lincoln not only has this magnificent Lincoln Cathedral
but a castle too.  All sitting on top of a massive hill.
The photos above and below (left) are taken
from inside Lincoln Castle.  The
Castle does have an fine exterior wall and towers.
All are currently being renovated.
In the red brick building you can see one of the only
4 surviving originals of the Magna Carta.

Above (right) is Mr LOL having a little rest.
Lincoln is hilly. We were half way up at this point.

The Cathedral is huge.  I can only wonder if the corridors
of Coventry Cathedral looked something like this
before the war.

From time to time I will show more.
I love it here.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend and are all set for a good week ahead.  I am :).

Love all the shots but this last one is breathtaking, I have such a 'thing' about arches, these are spectacular. As soon as you said hilly I thought uh oh! But Mr LOL is smiling so all must be well :)

I have not visited Lincoln but looking at your photos I think I need to rectify that quite soon.

From the link you supplied:

It was in 1092 that this first Cathedral at Lincoln built by Bishop Remigius was consecrated.

1092? This is just astounding.

Steep Hill lives up to its name doesn't it? I can recommend a visit to Lincoln Christmas market for the ultimate Lincoln experience!
Nice cathedral shot.

Great post! I'm a sucker for arches, too. And for ancient ancient ancient.

I love churches like that, could spend hours looking around much to DH's chagrin.

Lowell, Bev, Mo, Linda - Lincoln gets a thumbs up. Hooray!

Daryl, Grace - The reward for going up that hill is that when you have a little rest there are divine shops (food and craft) to browse or indulge :).

Chieftess - Indeed. Wonderful day trips in all directions from Coventry.

Fun60 - I was so impressed. Do make the trip. Debs recommends Christmas market :).

-K- - 'Astounding' is a good word!

Deb - Thanks for the tip!

Petrea - The Lincoln Castle was built before Warwick, just.

Jackie/Jake - Funny you should say that...we went twice in one day.
