Thatched Roof Thursday #24 - Easenhall

Campbell's Cottage is one of the rare older buildings in this part of the village of Easenhall.

This is a Grade II listed 17th century timber framed thatched roof cottage.  Underneath that exterior plaster is brick noggin. (Ok, I didn't know what brick noggin was.  I do now.)  This cottage is described as one storey plus attic, three window range.  I understand that it originally was two cottages.

This charming home is located right on the outskirts of Easenhall with fields to one side.  Carry on down the road into the village and you'll find a nice pub :).  I'll show you some day!!

I just found your other blog and am looking forward to going back and reading it as that is some of my favourite parts of the US to visit. We spent the winter in Nevada and Arizona with a side trip to Mexico. We are sloooowly heading ome.
Thanks so much for dropping by and visiting me!!
I'm your latest follower.

What a beautiful old home. I think it must be a very special sort of person to live in it. It must be quite dark and what we call "have a lot of character" inside. Character isn't bad...just makes for interesting plumbing and ceiling height

That is such a cool roof (and building!) - I like how a second(?) layer of thatching runs across the top and creates a decorative pattern. Very atmospheric capture:)

(Also, that is lovely you treated yourself to a DSLR! I've yet to make the leap, but your photos are inspiring me to consider one! BTW, I happily showed Mr. L your Krispy Kreme post and he reminded me we'd seen one at Waterloo Stn. a few years ago, while still in London - I'd forgotten but it seems the doughnuts are really taking hold in the UK!:)

You see that's what I love about blogging you find out something new everyday. I am so going to impress 'somebody' with my new knowledge of 'brick noggin' the next time I'm in a construction conversation :) This is a real English treasure LOL, I'm liking thatched roofs more and more everytime I see these.
p.s. I Googled Krispy Kremes and from what I can gather they aren't here yet, but will be coming soon..that's all I need, more temptation haha!

Jackie/Jake - Thanks for joining me. The trip we took in Nevada was my first effort at blogging. It is very rough around the edges but hopefully has some useful information. Enjoying following your travels.

Kara-I am sure you are right. Because this home is listed it will be protected to remain unchanged and cozy.

Lulu - I love it too. Ah, another KK location. They are really popular but expensive. Ref DSLR - you will take that leap and won't regret it.

Thanks for leaving a comment, Cloudia, RRound and Daryl.

Grace - I'd love to hear you dropping 'brick noggin' into a conversation. If it were me, I would probably burst out laughing...it sounds funny to me. Oh goodie on that KK new location. Picture please when it opens :).

I always love your thatched roofs, but this one is my favorite. I love the idea that it was once two. I wonder what caused them to be out together? Must be a good story there!
