Looks like some minor roof repairs have been carried out recently.
You may wonder what that white box is - here is a closer look.

Looks a little rough around the edges LOL :) still a charming wee cottage though.. Yay another new word 'cruck' AND it means my favourite shape..the arch! Hmmmm, not sure how that would sound...oh what a beautiful view through the cruck, just doesn't have that same ring to it haha!

A skep is an old fashioned beehive, so that plus the local honey sign looks to me like they keep bees and sell the honey. Nice cottage.
Gorgeous looking building. I believe thatching roofs is a dying art, so I bet it would cost hundreds of pounds to rethatch that one
ha! I love your nickname, LOL. I'm surprised that my youngest hasn't tacked that on me. He lovingly reminds me of my age (73) when I complain or he says, "poor Mama." I have always had this dream of living in an English cottage. Perhaps it stems from reading about Miss Marple during my childhood. I love the look of a thatched roof. Now I'm wondering it it's laid on a board. hmm...

Thanks. I will go and ask next time I am in village. (BTW...I saw that Egyptian Goose again today. Only one at Coombe.)

Grace - Indeed. First time I have seen a patch job like that. Oh how I would love to overhear you using 'cruck' in a sentence :).

Bev - I am still feeling that way too. I get excited every time I see a new one.
Lulu - That curve on the beam just incredible. Stoneleigh is a 'stones' throw from Kenilworth.
Christopher - Big bucks required I am sure for rethatching. I have stumbled onto 2 thatching business locally...now I can see where they get their work.
