Thatched Roof Thursday #56 - Wolvey

Holly Tree Cottage, Wolvey
Grade II Listed dating around early 18th Century.
In my mind, those beams are outstanding.

Village architecture can be mixed, as you can see
from the photo above.

Hope you are having a good week with
a lot less rain than we are having here in Coventry :).

I like it. Probably wouldn't want to live there, but it's an intriguing structure. Does the bird on the roof come with it? :)

You are so good at finding these thatched cottages, LOL.

A fascinating structure. From the point of view on this side of the Atlantic, that would be a very old building indeed.

Interesting looking roof and obviously the bird likes it there, too! I don't really like when there is a solid wall without windows. Though I guess the bricks and timbers make up for what could be a blank space.

Lots of brick work and no window on that one wall. Cute house though.

I agree about the beams. Gorgeous! And 300 years old.

I wish you could share some of your rain with us. We are sorely in need.

It's a beauty! I saw thatched birds on thatched roofs in Liverpool - nice touch.

I often wonder what it would be like to live in one of these very old houses Lauren.. there are so many things I think I would enjoy..but not if there was even the hint of a 'presence' ;)) Another very lovely find here.

Some fine and modest-looking houses there feels impermeable in their sense of class. Roofing adds a lot on that end. Not only in the realm of practical protection, but also that of design. It would be a shame to lose it all.
