Thatched Roof Thursday #54 - Wolvey

Bachelor's Rest, Coventry Road

This is a sweet Grade II Listed cottage dating back to mid/late 18th Century.
The name, Bachelor's Rest, is a puzzle to me.  Maybe someone will
know the reason for the name and leave a comment.

Wolvey is located about 9 miles to the north east of Coventry.
It is a place loaded with history.  If you are interested, follow the
link for a summary - HERE.

PS.  Think I'll have a long weekend.  You all have a good one.

It is a charming little place. I know why it has that name, but I don't want to take away the other viewers' fun.

Chieftess - You may be on the right track.

Aw...come on Jack, why the name:). I spoke to a lady who lives in Wolvey and she didn't know about the name so I am not hopeful of ever finding out...ha ha!

Stefan...you are using my exact word (which I use often :)).

Fun60 - You may be right. I think it has a new roof in 1985 so it has lasted pretty well.

RedPat, Bill, William, Halcyon, Kate, JM & Linda - Thanks for commenting.

Petrea - The English Villages are my friend and keep dishing up these gems for me to photograph :).

Stephanie - Thanks for acknowledging :).

Hamilton - Thank you!

Jane - So would I :).

Tanya - You and I have the same taste.

Grace - It does have that sort of appeal. I can see what you mean. Hoping you had a good weekend and P isn't over celebrating on the cricket results :).

It looks like something out of a fairy tale. Precious. I saw a number of them when in Ireland and was mesmerized. Love the post. genie

I had the same reaction as Genie up there! This home looks like something out of a fairytale for me too!

My, that is a rather compelling-looking house. Screams history. Should probably be upon an owner's discretion whether to make something more out of it, in ways that doesn't affect the visual impression. But practicalities should be paramount as well.
