Thatched Roof Thursday #27 - Stretton-Under-Fosse

'The Thatched Cottage' is a late 17th century timber framed Grade II listed cottage.  I can say that the corner of this house is very close to the bend in the road.  There is plenty of moss on this roof too.

This photo will give you an idea of the size of road that passes by.  Speed limit here is 30 mph.   I took us 10 minutes to get to Stretton from our house in Coventry.

First shots were taken in the rain and just as I was going back to our car, the sun came out.  So here is a closer look.  I would imagine the porch is a recent addition.

Take care all.

Another wonderful old cottage LOL, the thatch looks like it's 17th century 'do' could do with a bit of a refresh :) I wonder how many people stick to the 30 mph speed limit going around that corner?

dont you wonder about what it was like there before that road was paved and traffic increased? i do ... and not to quibble but that looks more like an enclosed entry than a porch ...

What a sweet place, I would love to know how often they have to update this hairdo:) Now if only there were more 30 mph limits in some parts of town here (not that anyone would obey!)

Thanks friends. Lovely to hear what you have to say. I must comment back to a couple of you -

The speed limit...I think it gets broken all the time. Not good...the road is really narrow.

Daryl - You are right but Mr LOL assures me that 'porch' applies here in the Coventry area :).

Lulu - I am really curious what happens with this moss situation. Do they clean the roof or what. It's on the list :).

Leslie D - Take a picture of it and email it to me. I will put it up on my blog as a 'guest photo' or better yet put it on yours!

I know it is common in Europe to have houses right next to the road, but still, it must take some getting used to. We are spoiled on this side of the pond, with nice big setbacks.
