Sunday afternoon at Coombe Country Park and this is what you get. The first time ever I have seen a nesting swan. What a spot. That is Coombe Abbey Hotel in the background.
I am delighted to say this is 'my world'. Please click the link for more photos from around the world at Our World Tuesday.

what a wonderful thing to spot .. in central park lake there's this gazebo and the swans that live in/on the lake build their nest there ... i havent been lucky enough to spot where it is precisely but i have gotten some wonderful shots of mama and babies enjoying a swim
I remember wandering around there!
If there's one thing a swan is good at, it's fending off invaders to a territory. The eggs should be okay.
Beautiful backdrop LOL, it amazes me where birds will build their nests sometimes, I've seen them in the oddest places, this is a little exposed, but maybe she's enjoying the view:)
You got a chance to make such beautiful photo !
Swans don't seem terribly concerned about stealth when building their nests... perhaps it's because they know they pack a wallop with those wings and have wicked beaks with which to defend them!!
Home is where the heart is...human or swan!!!
Wonderful creature and how lovely to see its nest, though I have to agree it looks a bit exposed...I think it's a pretty fierce bird, luckily. Will beat off any creature great and small!
I saw a coot's nest once in Bakewell and wondered about how flimsy it looked but I'm sure they are sturdier then we imagine.
How fun! I've never seen a swan's nest before. I hope you'll post photos of the babies when they hatch! I love the composition of the first photo too. It's perfect.
You all sound reassuring that all will be okay here. I will make regular visits to follow the progress :).
Thank you all for leaving comments. I have enjoyed reading them. Cheers!
I don't think I've ever seen a swan's nest before. And what a beautiful place!
