Thatched Roof Thursday #25 - Dunchurch

This charming home is called Gateway and is located on The Square in Dunchurch.  This is another cottage that was possibly 2 cottages in 18th Century.  (I am finding that a lot of these old cottages have been combined to create one large home.)  It is Grade II Listed with little privacy judging by the size and location of the pavement.

That is St Peter's Church just beyond the cottage.  Guy Fawkes House is behind me.  I rather like the white house next door to the thatched cottage.

Exciting day yesterday.  I was asked to delete photos I took of a sign outside Coventry Crown Court!  There was a brief discussion which was followed by, 'I like your accent' comment from the security guard.  That was after I had deleted 3 photos. Interesting! Earlier in the day, I  met the owner of Cruck House (the thatched cottage we have all  been watching be re-thatched).  Nice people live there.  More to follow...!

Beautiful roof!
Sometimes, in the north France, you can also find houses like that.

Well I wonder what that was all about LOL, surely a sign is out there for all to see, why the drama! I have really enjoyed the thatched roofs, this one is perfectly precise, a bit like a Mary Quant haircut..oh no, now I'm showing my age haha!

That is so strange about deleting a *sign* of all things! Goodness. I wonder what the rationale was. Anyhow, back to the lovely pictures, loving the sinuous lines on the thatched roof today, very neat and highly sculpted:)

Another 2-for-1! My favorite. I can't believe you were asked to delete a sign! I always worry about that sort of thing, but then figure I'm overreacting. Oh dear... Also, I love the little pot of flowers on the porch. Really shows they care. :-)

Looking at it again, I'm reminded of Moe, from the Three Stooges. Very perfectly trimmed. :) Yet, in this case, quite beautiful.

Impressively thick thatch on that roof. Outside a courthouse eh, are you considering a new career as a paparazzi Lauren!

Honestly, I am laughing!!!! Thank you so much for the comments. You are all great!!

Doronette - You must take a photo next time you visit that area.

Hilda - ...and it is all covered with chicken wire. It does feel like I am stepping into a book when I visit there.

Grace - You started something - am I surprised? Not a chance :). So funny.

Daryl - Dorothy Hamel, a good one!!!!

Lulu - I could understand if I was in the building but not outside. I wasn't in the mood to challenge the guy. He was nice and must have thought I was a tourist :). I do have a strong American accent, even now. Sculptured, indeed.

Adele - They probably have so many tourist passing...they want to make a good impression. I do have a photograph I was allowed to keep of the courthouse. So I can expand on my feelings. Moe...!!!!! Perfect!

Deb - Honestly I was just taking a picture of the court emblem over the door. It is pretty....ha ha!

Laughing too at Grace and Daryl's comments.

Feeling a little weird right now LOL, the physio strapped my back up today, it's made me feel all lopsided I feel like I'm going to fall over all the time..and I haven't even had a drink haha! Maybe I should!!

Raf - I am following a roof being re thatched. When I post the finished roof in a week or two you can go back and see how it was done.

Carraol - Security guards indeed...think you know of what I speak :).

Grace - Now Mr LOL and I are wondering if it is your neck or your back that is giving you grief. Heading over to yours to ask just that :).

Interesting. I suppose you could just tell us what the sign said.

Feel better soon, Grace.

Love cottages with thatched roofs and bay window! Those roofs must be expensive in upkeep, but bay winders are so practical and give a nice view! Thanks for visiting my blog today!
