B Is For Britain From Above

(Above) I am looking down from The Secret Garden at The Library of Birmingham
at an exhibition of old aerial photographs of Britain.

(Below) That's Mr LOL looking at an image of Coventry 6 years
after WWII bombing of the City Centre.

His grandfather lived in Bayley Lane (bottom left of image below)
close to Coventry Cathedral and survived.

For more images and information about the Britain From Above project,
please click the link HERE.  There is an invitation to register and then
participate in helping to identify and provide information about old aerial photographs.

Participating in ABC Wednesday

PS. Happy Birthday, Lily :)

Your first photo is wonderful, but I had to close my eyes after a moment. Heights and I don't get along.

Coventry really did get hit hard in WWII. It is a place well suited to reflecting on the losses during the war.

The losses of WWII seen so remote but they were so devastating.

I would love to see this exhibit. I am reading a book right now about Agent Zigzag (true story of a British double-agent during WWII). There is lots of talk about the bombings and such...

I love that first shot. I'm always looking for views from up high. Not easy to find places that allow you onto the roof here in London

Coventry really suffered during WWII.
On a lighter note, It's good to see nice pics from good ol'Brum!

So enjoyed seeing the old b&w's of Coventry Cathedral.. made me remember all the absolutely gorgeous images you've taken there. Ooo you were brave climbing so high for the first shot, like Jack, heights and myself are not good friends :)
