Thatched Roof Thursday #71 - Hampton Lucy

Taken yesterday.  You guessed it - a beautiful day.

Hampton Lucy is a lovely village not far from Stratford Upon Avon
about 20 minutes from Coventry.

  Love this village :).

PS.  Happy Birthday, Charlotte.

The name, "Hampton Lucy," intrigues me...wonder where that came from? More really fine photos and I can see you had a wonderful day and the whole area looks so green and lush.

Thanks for your comments...now to answer questions (hopefully):

Lowell - I did Google the name and there are a number of explanations. Possibly all to do with land ownership. It was once called 'Bishop's Hampton' named after the Bishop of Worcester and then Queen Mary gave land to the 'Lucy' family and suspect that is reason for the name change. I'm not a historian but this sounds reasonable explanation.

Tanya - Nope this is the first time for this cottage. I know what you mean...I have shown others with the same sort of roof design.

Grace - So do I :).
