U Is For Undercover

Taken from inside the Bird Hide at Coombe Country Park.
It is a great retreat from the rain and wind as well as a perfect
observation spot to enjoy local nature.

For you real photographers out there...I did my best to get
something of the scenery.  Shooting in a dark room with bright
light outside is not part of my skill set just yet (as demonstrated more so below).

 I love visiting here :).

Lovely - and I'm sure it would be perfect in the rain or snow. I'd be snapping like crazy!

Spend a lot of my spare time in bird hides. Somehow this one seems familiar, made by Gilleards perhaps?

I'd just love a place like this in our woods! So cozy and the perfect photo spot - I could never get the contrast right w/my point-and-shoot, these look good to me!:)

I don't think the pros could handle those lighting conditions. From what I understand, those challenges are handled by "bracketed exposures," setting up the camera to take at least 3 different shots at 3 different exposures. Then using HDR software like Photomatix to blend the 3 (or more) together. That's how they get the highlights to not blow out and the shadow details to show.

Thank you for your visits and kind, encouraging comments. I'll be back to check out Coventry. It looks charming and gorgeous!

Looks very well sheltered.
Great one for 'U'.

It reminds me of the one at Descanso Gardens in La Canada, CA. Have you been there, Lauren?

That's the nicest bird watching shelter I've ever seen. I'd love to visit it.

I agree with above, you have captured a sort of 'clubhouse' feel here Lauren, where you have to be a birdwatcher to qualify for membership :)
P.s. my back is fine, but every now and then my knee can be a bit of a pain...mostly when I try to get into awkward spots to take photos :))

Thank you all. You can come join me and Mr LOL any time!!!

Deb - I don't know who built it, but now you have me wondering. Will have a look.

Lulu - You and I can try out Stickup Artist's solution...one day :). Thank you SA for explaining.

Petrea - It has been years since I visited Descanso Gardens. Happy Days!

PerthDP - Ha ha! You know something I felt that way went I walked in there the first time. Happily anyone can enter. I met a lady a couple of weeks ago who was writing letter (by hand) and sipping on coffee. (You will know by now that Mr LOL is doing good. You look out for those knees.)

This reminds me of a much more rustic place in the middle of the Madre de Dios River in the Peruviam Amazon where I was overwhelmed by the amount of parrots and macaws that come and feed on the clay banks to get minerals that work as antidote to the poisonous fruit they eat on a daily basis.
