Cygnets, Mallards & An Egyptian Goose

This mallard found a quiet spot.
Directly to my right is where birds, ducks, geese and
the 7 cygnets (below - yes, they are all there) tend to gather.

And the other family of 5 cygnets are all accounted for too (below).

See the Egyptian Goose?  Coombe has
just the one hanging about.

Or making a fast exit...I am too close :).

We have had some rather stormy weather overnight.
Hope everyone is safe here in the UK.
Have a good week all.

Mixture of photos taken early September and last week.

Whilst walking the Thames path I noticed a number of different geese and had to ID them when I got home. The Egyptian goose was one I was unfamiliar with but now realise it can be spotted in many areas of the UK. They make a pleasant change from the thousands of Canada geese that are everywhere. High winds here but fortunately no damage.

What a beautiful place to spend some time. And your photos are a delight…and seem to show that diverse groups can get along!

You certainly know where to find your fine feathered friends!

Fun60 - Neat about that E Goose. Good news that you are clear of any damage. Midlands got lots of rain but no big wind. Phew!

Tanya - Oh they get along ok but there is the occasional squabble :).

Thanks, Lowell.

Jane - Just around the corner :).

Kate - I keep going back to Coombe but every pretty river I find seems to have a Swan or two and a collection of ducks. Lovely.

You have mad ducks like us down south

Yes, I heard about the weather. I hope all the birds survived it. I spoke to a friend in Norwich who said the wind knocked him over twice on the way to work.

Bill - Just had a look at your Oxfordshire photos. Lovely.

Petrea - Could that be Dive? Have a look at Bill's site above. He adds a historical twist to his photos.

Stephanie - They are :).

Yes, it was Dive. Do you think he exaggerated?

I love Bill's photos, the ones I found on Google+. I have little experience of G+ so I plunged right in and added him to my circles. I hope he doesn't think me too forward.

Grace - We got lucky in here in The Midlands (as they call our area). Lots of rain but not much wind. Local golf course is flooded and roads were a bit wet. All is okay here now.

Petrea - No exaggeration. It was really bad in the
South with some sad loss of life. Re Bill - If you click on links in Google+ you will be transported to Bill's blog site. I didn't know that. I am so scared of G+ that I haven't signed up for it. Seem to have most everything else Google has on offer but than one scars me a tad.
