Coventry City Football Club Celebrate

Today's Promotion Tour
around Coventry City...
and right past our street.

It wasn't long ago that Coventry City Football Club (founded in 1883)
was in the top league of English professional football.
In 2001 after 34 years in the Premier League they were relegated
 and the slide began.
In 2017 the club was relegated to League Two, the fourth tier.

Last Monday, CCFC successfully beat Exeter at Wembly and won
promotion to League One.

A new beginning?  Hopefully!!!

Lauren here. I know, it has been a long time since I have posted on my blog. I didn't have to go far to take these photographs. I just want to say that I have missed my City Daily Photo friends and I hope to rearrange my life a tad and get back to posting here soon. XXXXX

Well, I for one am glad to see that you're back even for a bit. I've been wondering what's happened to you and hope that all goes well. I can't imagine getting excited about a professional sports team, but I think things are a bit different in England with soccer. Back in the early 70s we lived in Dallas and were avid Cowboy's fans but those days are long gone and now I see professional sports, with the possible exception of golf and tennis, as hopelessly corrupt and stupid.

Okay, I'll quit ranting now. I do love your photos and you've captured brilliantly the joy that is going around in your community. Sometime let me know the size of Coventry - in terms of people. We've been looking for somewhere to go that isn't the US and is a bit smaller. Trump is a serious concern because he is truly deranged with no competence in any area, totally manipulated by Fox (FAUX) News and has no empathy...he's bringing the country down.

I'm just kidding about moving, though. I'm way too old and have other infirmities that wouldn't allow it. But I can dream, can't I?

Best wishes to you and your family!

Good to hear from you, and good for them!

I know next to nothing about what your side of the pond calls football, and wonder what it is about the sport that makes three quarters of the world want to kill each other in the stands over a game.
