Cross of Nails -
Cross of Nails -
Symbol of Peace and Reconciliation.
The Cross of Nails (above) was created in 1940 from 3 medieval roof nails which were picked up from the rubble of the bombed cathedral. The Cross of Nails has become the symbol of Coventry's ministry of reconciliation. Shown here is the original Cross of Nails set in the centre of a gilded silver cross (full shot, below) created by Geoffrey Clark.
The photo opposite was taken from a position near the middle of The New Cathedral. Note the bouquet of poppies. Last Monday was Remembrance Day.

The cross of nails is beautiful yet so poignant.
They are big but don't look like ant nails I have seen, I nice Idea to use them like that.
Had to look this up and now see the story behind it.

that is beautiful...
On HMS Coventry there was a cross of nails. After she was sunk in the Falklands war the cross of nails was retrieved. The cross of nails is a terribly important symbol for Coventrians.

Beautiful and poignant!
My first thought was how poignant this was, and it seems a word that many have associated with this new cross of Reconciliation. Great choice for R.
