There has been an addition to the
fencing near that Oak Tree (centre) I like to keep an eye on.

The Oak Tree

 Coombe Country Park

A sweet relative of mine emailed recently asking for
an update on how this beautiful oak tree was doing.
So this morning I went and had a look for myself.
Thankfully, it is looking as good as ever, I would have to say.

Photos taken this morning after a nice long walk around the park.

Please take care and stay safe!

Frosty Morning

Coombe Country Park

The Oak Tree to the right is one that
I photograph often.  But to be fair,
I haven't published a photo of it since 2016.

So here it is on a frosty December morning, 2017.
For more photographs in and around this tree,

Jaguar Cars

Jaguar Drivers National Day
Coombe Country Park
August, 2016

Above - 1956 Jaguar D-Type 'Long Nose'.
Below - 1938 SS Jaguar 100 - 2 1/2 Litre
(with my favorite oak tree in the background).

Hundreds of Jaguar Cars were on display at this event
held in August, 2016.

Below is another look at the 1956 Jaguar D-Type 'Long Nose'.
Winner of the Reims 12-hours race
driven by Duncan Hamilton and Ivor Bueb.

Jaguar Cars headquarters is in Coventry.

The Oak Tree

Coombe Country Park
Yesterday

I have great fun photographing that big oak tree from time to time.  In July, it was used for a climbing event open to the public.  In August, it looked quite nice in the background of a Jaguar Cars event.  More about that red Jag soon.

This Way To Herons Café

Coombe Country Park
5 miles east of Coventry on the A427

Today is City Daily Photo Theme Day -
Scenes from Cafés or Coffee Houses

I have chosen a place we visit more than
once a week - located in beautiful Coombe Country Park.

From the car park you will see the Visitors Centre
(and, if you follow this blog, you'll recognise the
'oak tree' I photograph often on the left in the distance
in a Tree Series).

The entrance to Herons Café  is just inside the
Visitors Centre on your right (below).

We were there yesterday after a long walk around the park
in the rain. We always stop here for hot chocolate or coffee.
If you fancy something more substantial, you can choose from
a full menu.  Everyone is friendly and helpful too!

All warm now, so back to the car.
(That's my husband standing there with the red 'brolly'.)
You'll see Coombe Abbey Hotel
further down the drive...

PS.  If it had been a nicer day,
those tables and chairs (below) would be
outside.  Next time, I'm sure!

Dusting Of Snow

Coombe Country Park
The Oak Tree I photograph
throughout the year in a Tree Series.

It was a bit of a dark day last
Sunday, but I was delighted to see some snow
on the ground at last.

Have a good weekend everyone.
Thanks for visiting me here in Coventry, England.

Tree Series & Good News

Coombe Country Park
The Oak Tree I photograph throughout
the year in a Tree Series.

The good news is that the memorial picnic bench (damaged
by a BBQ fire) has been repaired.  A nice metal
surface has been added to protect it from heat damage.

Dare I mention that these photos were taken with my phone
on Sunday - a totally gloomy day.  Didn't stop us going for a walk :).

Under The Rainbow

Coombe Country Park
View from Brinklow Road on Tuesday

These photos were taken in the rain with my iPhone.
Happily, I got the big oak tree on right.  That is the tree
I photograph occasionally in the Tree Series.

(Below) Not quite straight - but you get the idea.
Full view towards Coombe from the road.
Do I see a double rainbow?

BBQ Gone Wrong

Coombe Country Park
Revisiting my favorite oak tree.

Dotted all around Coombe Country Park are wonderful
picnic tables, all of which are there as a memorial to family and friends.

On Sunday we decided to go over and see how
my favorite tree (above) is looking.  We were distracted.
How disappointing it was to see that someone
decided to put one of those disposable BBQs on the
table and burn a hole in it.

I hope this table can be repaired soon.
It is such a lovely spot in the park to be enjoyed by all.

Join Me For A Walk

Coombe Country Park
(Two mile country walk through the gate.)

It has been over 2 years now that I have
been photographing that big Oak Tree.

Not much has changed with the tree
but if you click on the Tree Series link
you'll see plenty of seasonal differences.

Taken yesterday.
Have a super week.  I'll do my best to
post photos this week...but it's going to be a challenge :).

Tree Series - In The Cold

Coombe Country Park

I've been taking occasional pictures of this Oak Tree as part
of a tree series for the last 2 years.  Things
haven't changed all that much here in that time...
just the weather :).

Tree Series - Skeleton

Taken yesterday (-3C) in the fog
at Coombe Country Park.

This is a favorite tree I like to photograph from
time to time.  For the same view but during different times
of the year, click on 'tree series' label below.

City Daily Photo Theme Day - Worker

My 'Worker' is the Race Marshall, below.

Yesterday, the local Sphinx Athletic Club was holding a multi terrain race event (running)
at Coombe Country Park.  The 'Race Marshall' was
standing near my favorite tree waiting for the runners to appear.

You have seen my 'worker' and my tree from my tree series.
Below you can just see the last of some runners heading
over to my 'worker' after a nice run through the park.

Have a look at more photos from around the world of other
'Workers'...they are good!

My Tree In November

Taken on Sunday. A favorite Oak Tree I like to
photograph throughout the year as a part of a Tree Series.

The bench?
A super place to enjoy a hot chocolate
after a nice walk around Coombe Country Park.

The photo below was taken from a bird hide some distance
from the oak tree above.  Hey!  I can see my oak tree.
Can you?  (It is way, way far away.)

The Oak Tree With A Little Extra

Taken yesterday. A favorite Oak Tree I like to
photograph throughout the year as part of a Tree Series.

The 'little extra' was found under that big oak tree.

I always thought the fence was there to protect the tree.
Looks like I got that wrong :).
(The last shot was taken 2 hours earlier under very dark clouds.)

Cheers for now.  Have a good week!

City Daily Photo Theme Day - Celebrating Summer

I'm celebrating.  It's sunny!
The oak tree is celebrating too.  It is finally covered in leaves,
at last :).  (This is the latest addition to my 'tree series'.)
The little dots of color on the left are runners taking part in fun run
around Coombe Country Park on Sunday.

Enjoy your day and see other photos Celebrating Summer - HERE.

Looking Exposed

Plenty of fog but no leaves yet on my favorite Oak Tree,
taken today at Coombe Country Park.

Hope you all had a lovely Easter holiday.

Please click the 'tree series' label (below) for a collection of shots
taken of this tree during the last year.

Waiting For Spring

My favourite tree in March.
Still no leaves.

Apologies for falling behind with visits to my favorite blogs.
I've had a little tummy bug which hasn't been much fun :(.
I'm planning to get better :).
In the meantime, I'll be taking a little break
to get well & catch up on a multitude of things.

See you in a couple of weeks!

PS  Happy Birthday to Cuz and Marty
