Coombe Country Park
View from Capability Brown boathouse
The public were given limited access to the
boathouse during Heritage Weekend in September, 2015.
It was a real treat to see the view from this recently restored building.
The boathouse is Grade II Listed and dates back to the 1770s when
Capability Brown was commissioned to remodel
the grounds, at the time owned by the Earl of Craven.
Hope you have a 'sunny' weekend.
That's my plan :).

Beautiful images. The last shot is my favorite.
beautiful images - thanks for sharing this tranquil atmosphere. have a lovely sky week~~
What a treat to see the boathouse from the inside.
Fun60! I've always thought that would be so much fun. Great photos.
Beautiful views! I love the clouds in the one shot.
I really like the old boathouse. Here in Australia we really have no concept of old buildings until we look at those in European countries. My wife & I often watch the British TV shows Grand Designs & Escape to the Country. The ages of some of the buildings we see on those shows is amazing. There was a 2 storey stone farm cottage on Escape to the Country last night that was built in the 1700's & the condition it was in was superb.
Capability was quite a guy! Very nice showings
It bears a faint resemblance to the Minnesota boathouses of my youth. 1770s! That's incredible. Gorgeous photo at the last, Lauren!
excellent views
Gorgeous location and photos! Love the composition on the window shot.
Wow - fabulous reflections!
the first photo, are you in a boat?
the first snapshot, its really awesome scenery. are you inside the building or boat?
Magnifique endroit !
Lovely views of the lake and boathouse. How easily the name 'Capability Brown' seems to march across the screen - you are so fortunate to be able to visit such beautifully designed and managed gardens. I can only dream of visiting a garden designed by Brown or any other of a number of wonderful British gardeners.
How amazing that some of his gardens are still there today Lauren. What a very sweet little boathouse and the view from the window is beautifully framed.
What a great view! Beautiful little boathouse.
Marvellous reflections. Have a good week.
Thank you all for your comments today and this week. I enjoyed reading them.
Thehiddenpanorama - I was inside the building (boathouse) when I took the top and bottom photographs.
