The Establishment Bar & Grill, formerly The Old County Hall |
Here is a little peek inside one of Coventry's newest licensed premises. Less than 20 years ago this was the main courtroom in Coventry Crown & County Court before the Courts moved to new premises across town. The building stood derelict for years. What a change. Note the Crown Crest above the seat where the Crown Court judge used to sit. Just outside is the Cathedral, St Mary's Hall, and Holy Trinity Church.

I don't know what to make of 'the last public execution taking place in Cuckoo Lane'. There has to be a story.

Wonderful that they would go to the expense to do this - it's gorgeous! And a very apt name for the establishment!
What an interesting place! Cuckoo Lane Execution? A story there, for certain! Beautiful photos, LOL. :-)
Okay folks. It is on the list - Executions/Cuckoo Lane.
I it fun to see something a bit modern created out of something really old...and done well.
Love this group of photos and, oh, how I'd love to find out more about that execution! I second Tanya and Adele! :-)
Looks like they have done a good job of keeping old but incorporating it into the new.
They did, Paul. This is such a important City Centre location and it would have been awful if they got it wrong.
