Lady Godiva, St Mary's Guildhall, Coventry

W C Marshall's mid 19th century statue of Lady Godiva

On the west side of the Great Hall  is this oriel window thought to date between 1394 and 1414.  It was rebuilt in 1826 and later restored in 1893.  Such a beautiful setting for Mr Marshall's work.

That is a beautiful window and photograph! I love the statue, so graceful. And thank you for the oriel link, I was never quite sure how an oriel window differed from a bay window.

(Lol re: the cows, I think they were the mummies of the babies from Numbers Theme Day :)))

The window and statue are lovely, but what really makes this photo for me is the light. Beautiful.

Beautiful, the glass and Godiva both!

Thank you, Lulu. I didn't know what an 'oriel' was until I looked it up.

Thanks, Petrea.

Thanks, Paul. This display is hidden a way a little...so glad I took the time to walk around the room.

I have changed the title here to include 'Lady Godiva'. So I am not sure what will happen with the links to the comments above.
