View From The Bus

Gosford Street and Far Gosford Street

I am on the top deck of a bus leaving Coventry City Centre
heading down Gosford Street (above) towards Far Gosford Street (below).

Next trip I'm going to jump off the bus and have a closer look
at these old buildings currently being restored.

The modern buildings in the first photograph are
student accommodation.

Have a good weekend :).

On A Windy Day

 Coombe Country Park

I'm learning that some of these
birds have similar markings.
I think this is a Coal Tit.

Reconciliation

Coventry Cathedral Ruins

Sculpture by Josefina de Vasconcellos
placed in Coventry Cathedral ruins in
1995, 50 years after the end of WWII

For a short period of time this sculpture
was moved to the new cathedral for safekeeping
while the floor of the old cathedral was being restored.

The wording reads:

Reconciliation

In 1995, 50 years after the end of the Second World War
this sculpture by Josefina de Vasconcellos has been
given by Richard Branson as a token of reconciliation.

An identical sculpture has been placed on behalf
of the people of Coventry in the Peace Garden, Hiroshima, Japan.

Both sculptures remind us that, in the face of destructive forces,
human dignity and love will triumph over disaster
and bring nations together in respect and peace.

hence, the variety in weather conditions.

The Bird Hide

Coombe Country Park

This is a great place for watching and photographing
birds and other wildlife.

Inside the hide is a sign (below) telling us about
The Fred Fox Memorial Fund
created in loving memory of
Mr Fox by family and friends.
Please take a minute to read.

Every year flowers are left inside the hide.
(Photo below taken late last year.)

That's my husband (below) on a very cold morning
doing a little bird watching.

It is a wonderful place to visit at any time of the year.
The views are amazing too.

Middle Of The Road

London Road, Coventry
Wild Flowers

I thought I would start  this week off with a colorful photograph
taken in July, 2016.  This is the central reservation (median strip)
on the London Road, Coventry.
Taken from our car heading home from the City Centre.

I was busy last week sorting photographs.
I'm hoping that I can post more regularly but
what I post might be a bit random.
Time will tell :).
