November 14th will be the
75th Anniversary of the bombing of Coventry Cathedral.
This memorial stone commemorates the
unknown civilians killed in war.
The original version of this stone

A really nice memorial and post to remember.
A poignant and thought provoking post for today.
We've had a few Remembrance Day essays. they're all different and interesting.

I was in Coventry in 1997 and visited the ruins of the cathedral and toured the new one with my daughter. Lovely city but much more modern than a lot of the other places in England, due to its having to be rebuilt after the war.

Lovely post!
very moving
That was a bit of history that I knew nothing about and once again I feel so ashamed of our US Congress.
That was so interesting Lauren. It's nice to see that even though the bombing of the cathedral was dreadful, the memory is still so strong captured in the many incredibly beautiful images you and I'm sure many others take of it. I will look forward to your commemorate image of the cathedral on Sunday Lauren.
Thanks all. You know I have walked by this memorial stone hundreds of times. It funny that walking by it once again on Remembrance Day caused me to pause and take a picture or two. Then I had to do a little research if I was going to use it in this blog...I was amazed to learn about the story that goes with this memorial stone.
Grace - Thanks for your comment. I put the wrong date which I have corrected. Should be the 14th. The 15th is one of our family birthdays and it is on my mind too :). Cheers. Lauren
Perfect post for the day. VDP had a bit more graves...
