Herbert Art Gallery and Museum
This is a huge mosaic mural of the English Industrialist
and museum benefactor, Sir Alfred Herbert.
It is made up of small photographs of
events, exhibitions, workshops and collections.
The aim of this digital mosaic is to celebrate the achievement of
1,000,000 visitors to the museum and gallery since it reopened in 2008.
Finding murals is going a to be tough for me here in Coventry,
so I am hoping that this will fit the bill for this week.
Below is the whole display.

This portraiture speaks to the million brush strokes that make up others we see.

It is amazing how this is done.
This is wonderful. I've seen the technique used before but it must be more time-consuming than a huge jigsaw puzzle! Beautiful work and tribute!
That is brilliant! Works as a mural for me!
That is nice! I've never seen this done before.
Love it! The only way this could be done is by computer, don't you think?
I've seen examples on line of this concept, but never one publicly placed. It's incredible. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
Simply brilliant!
Blimey Lauren.. What patience sourcing the correct shading and contouring images, brilliant artwork.
I love these photo mosaics. It would be fun to try to make one but, I think it would also take some time and patience.
I really like the effect!
Hi Lauren. I appreciated your comment on spelling(s) and accents. It reminded me of when my wife took French in college, the instructor told her it was the first time he had heard French spoken with a Minnesota accent!
What a fantastic idea!
I'm always amazed at these mosaics made up of other photos. How do they do it?
Dot matrix?
What a clever idea to celebrate achievements.
