Princess Charlotte is to be christened today.
Since we visited Sandringham earlier in the week,
this is how I think the afternoon events will unfold
(with a little help from what I have read in the local newspapers).
Sandringham House, Country Home of the Queen
Everyone will meet here and walk
along a path (on the left) from the house
to Church of St Mary Magdalene.
Gates between Church and Sandringham House
These gates will open and the Royal Party
will walk through.

Church of St Mary Magdalene
The path and entrance to the church is on the left (above).
Church entrance.
(below) Florentine marble font.
I do not believe that this font will be used for
Princess Charlotte's christening. Instead
a rather grand 175 year old ornate silver gilt Lily Font will be used.
The Lily Font (not pictured) is kept in the Tower of London.
Princess Diana was christened in this church.
St Mary Magdalene Church
Plenty of silver and beautifully ornate.
After the ceremony, it is back to
Sandringham House for tea and cakes :).
There you have it - a Royal Christening.
Sandringham is a little over 2 hours drive from
Coventry in Norfolk. Sandringham House is open to the public
between April and October and is well worth a visit.

It's a BIG day for Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana!
What a fantastic post. I read about the christening, but being a typical American did not think much about it. I loved all of this. And your photos are extraordinary! You've shown me a world that I'll probably never see in person and for that I'm grateful.
BTW, I did a "humorous" poem about Princess Di (in the book)...
Thanks so much for the tour, LOL. It was interesting and topical, but mainly it was beautiful.
i enjoyed my behind the scenes tour!
Wow, what a great little royal tour. Such beautiful countryside. I did a quick Google search and saw a few photos from the event.
Love this tour you provided.
Of course, you were invited. Of course, we'll see photos of the sandwiches! :-)
Such beautiful shots!
Rumour has it that Russell Brand's attempt to parachute in got scuttled when the SAS got a hold of him and gave him a thrashing.
Beautiful old Church very fit for Princess. The day was so low key and relaxed, I did like the old vintage pram they used. Very nice photos.
What wonderful photos, thanks for sharing!
That's a lovely old church and Sandringham House looks wonderful!
For some reason I pictured Princess Charlotte being christened in a much grander church. I'd love to re-visit the UK sometime and explore this area... and more!
