Thatched Roof Thursday #26 - Street Ashton

So here we are in Street Ashton, a hamlet in the Rugby district of Warwickshire. I have been back and forth past this house hundreds of times and never knew I was in a 'hamlet'.  Love it!

If you are travelling on the road between Stretton-under-Fosse and Monks Kirby (speed limit 50mph), you will miss this cottage.  The road is fast with a single lane in each direction.

I can't give you any more details about this cottage, other than it is a Grade II listed building.  The internet failed me.  But, I can tell you it is for sale.  Asking price - £385,000.  (For this shot, I had to stand on a verge across the street.  I was glad to get back into the car.)

Perfectly quaint and so rural English!

Love the way the thatch is cropped around the windows, looks like eyebrows oui.. Not sure what house prices are like over your way, but that seems like a good price LOL!

Beautiful house !

Beautiful! And how cute the little roof above the door is.

It is the perfect storybook house! Nicely captured. And it also seems a decent price (well, by London standards, and even by Princeton ones!). Though as you once pointed out, replacing/refreshing the roof once a decade might not be the most economic thing!:)

P.S. Forgot to say, I wish I knew what they'd been filming! (Few months ago, a Ben Affleck/Justin Timberlake movie was filming around town, not sure if this was a related follow-up...)

What a beautiful cottage, it reminds a bit of the Hansel and Gretel houses in Carmel by the Sea.
Thank you for visiting pret-a-vivre :)

So beautiful, so fairytale.
Thank you so much for your attention to Moscow blog, I am sorry I am far from being so warm and generous commenter as you are.

Guess my previous comment didn't go through...I love a tatched roof, but it probably is expensive in upkeep! In Holland where I'm originally from, we still have a few thatched roofs left!

I could have written the same as Irina.
It is just fantastic!

That's a great picture of the cottage. I can just imagine you trying to get that photo and praying that no traffic comes hurtling down the road. Sounds expensive for a property in the midlands but don't know what the interior is like.Wouldn't want to own a listed building - too many restrictions on home improvements!

What a delightful cottage! Shame it's on such a busy road though. Lovely shot.

Many thanks for your kind comments. This cottage has always been a blurrrrrr. So even I am enjoying looking at photos of it :).

Grace - These sculptured roofs are amazing. Last week it was 'haircut' thoughts from you and this week we are moving on the 'eyebrows' :). Love it.

JM & Deb - Glad you noticed that door feature.

Lulu - House prices are down here. I did see it listed for £400,000+ at one time.

Irina - What a sweetheart. Thank you!

Jesh - How interesting. I love hearing that other places have thatched roofs too.

Thanks, Gunn.

Fun60 - You nailed it. Busy street and the price has dropped. It seems those listed buildings keep the city planners busy due all the applications that have to be approved for any change. :).

Thanks again all for commenting.
