Greyfriars Green, Coventry (just off the Ring Road)

This area has been closed for ages.  What a treat is was to walk through here today between the train station and City Centre. I can't resist those peach blossoms and here I can photograph a few tulips too. Well done, City Council gardeners.  Nice job.

Five Minutes Outside Coventry

This is just one of the many beautiful sights this morning between Brandon and Bretford, quite near Coventry.  It was a bit windy out but the clouds don't seem to be swirling.  Hard to believe that a village just to the south of his hill was hit by a small tornado last night. No one was hurt.

The sun was out, blossoms abound and here is yet another view of the Old Rope Walk to share with you.  It is my hope that when I walk by here again, remaining parts of this railing surrounding the garden will not be missing.  'Do not touch', I say!!!!!

In celebration of St. George's Day, here is a scene from Binley Road, Coventry, today.  There is always a flag flying here but a new St. George's flag has been raised for this special day.

Also, in celebration of Shakespeare's birthday, here are some words from Shakespeare's Henry V, Act 3, Scene 1, 1.31:

From Russia With Love.....This Bench?

That is the question.

Next to Volgograd Place, Coventry

When I discovered this creation I was disappointed that there was no information (that I could see) telling me about it.  Well, I have since learned that Coventry was first twinned (in 1944) with Stalingrad, Russia. And, Stalingrad has since changed its name to Volgograd (in 1961).  To mark the 65th Anniversary of the twinning of these two Cities, Volgograd presented a bench and other gifts to Coventry.  Could this be the bench which is said to be located in Hales Street somewhere between Volgograd Place and the Peace Gardens.  Most likely, 'Yes'.  In the meantime....I think this bench is a work of art.

Volgograd Place, Under Ring Road in White Street, Coventry

Walking from Swanswell Pool towards Coventry City centre takes you under the Ring Road.  I used to find it a little intimidating walking under the Ring Road.  Not now.  Tomorrow I will focus in on that intriguing bench I can see ahead of me.  See you then for a closer look and a little story too.
