P Is For Private...

...or even 'peering' into a 'private' tennis club today with
the most amazing back drop of Warwick Castle.

P could also be for an annoying 'post'.  What a photo (below)
this would be if that lamp post was positioned somewhere else.

Ten minutes from Coventry is the most wonderful town of
Warwick.  Warwick is celebrating 1100th anniversary this year.
That's right!  In 914 the first fortified dwelling was built here.
William the Conqueror founded Warwick Castle in 1068.

Tomorrow is CDP's Theme Day - Squares.  See you tomorrow :).

The 'Wow' Factor

This young couple are on their way to their Engagement Party.  But first,
they came to Coombe Country Park to have some photos taken.

I asked if I could take a couple of photos too!  That dress is amazing.

So far so good.  But, I failed to find out more about the
dress and this charming couple.

We have experts amongst the City Daily Photo community
 who always take the time
to gather information and share that too.
Oops!  I got cold feet.
Next time :).

In the meantime, Happy Engagement to this sweet couple.

Thatched Roof Thursday #65 - Offchurch

Gable House, Offchurch

The photo above is a look at the countryside behind Gable House.

Offchurch, Warwickshire is about 20 minutes from Coventry.
I am having to venture out further from Coventry to find gems like this.
Well worth a little drive.  All taken last week.

Tomorrow it is back to Warwick...to share a genuine skyline :).

St George's Day, England

The Cross of St George flying high over Warwick Castle.

Today is also the 450th Anniversary of the birth of
Shakespeare.  As it happens, Warwick is located just about
half way between Coventry and Stratford Upon Avon.

I have taken pictures from this very spot before.
This one was taken today at 3.15 :).

The Baptistry Window

Coventry Cathedral
195 Panels of Stained Glass

In the photo below you can get an idea of the size of this window if you focus in on the
door (left) and reception desk (right).  This is one very large collection of stained glass panels.

I will have to come back and try photographing
this window again.  Would love to capture the glass in the middle
looking less washed out.  A challenge.

Designed by John Piper and created by Patrick Reyntiens.

Looking Exposed

Plenty of fog but no leaves yet on my favorite Oak Tree,
taken today at Coombe Country Park.

Hope you all had a lovely Easter holiday.

Please click the 'tree series' label (below) for a collection of shots
taken of this tree during the last year.

Blossoms

The tree is enormous which throws me on whether
these are apple, peach or pear blossoms.

Best of all, the sky is blue today on
Good Friday near Coventry.

Happy Easter!

N Is for Not

'Not' sure what this metal post is.  Any ideas?

It is along side a lake.

And my guess is that is pretty old.

I know there are some clever people out there
who might know the answer :).

M Is For Monks Kirby

The Church of St Edith dominates the landscape of Monks Kirby
(taken last Sunday from Newnham Paddox grounds).

I have just a couple more photos to share of our visit.

The dark posts in the centre of the photo (above) are the
magnificent Grade I listed gates you can see HERE.
Below is one of several daffodil-lined walks.

...and more daffodils.

I couldn't pass on showing you this piano.  I just love it :).

More From Newnham Paddox, Monks Kirby

Taken last Sunday.  No sunshine but plenty of daffodils.

Carrying on from yesterday, here are more photos from around
this wonderful park, designed by Lancelot 'Capability' Brown
between 1745 and 1753.

Not far from this location is another lake and, yes, more daffodils.

Screen, Gates and Gatepiers - Monks Kirby

The gates are thought to be originally
from a Spanish Monastery.  Click HERE to read more.

Taken yesterday at the Daffodil Sunday event
in the grounds of Newnham Paddox, Monks Kirby.

I'll show you more around this wonderful parkland tomorrow.

PS  Happy Birthday, Abbie, for last Friday :).
